In a move aimed at improving administration and streamlining policing across Karnataka, the Head of the Karnataka State Police Force M.A. Saleem, has directed senior police officers to conduct inspections of district and city police units between May and July 2026.

According to the circular, Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGPs) and Inspector Generals of Police (IGPs) have been assigned districts and commissionerates to review policing standards, administrative efficiency and implementation of new criminal laws.

The inspections will focus on law and order management, crime investigation standards, pending promotions, police welfare measures, intelligence gathering, cybercrime investigation and disposal of pending bills and utilisation certificates.

Senior officers have also been instructed to verify timely investigation of cases under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, monitor action against organised crime, narcotics offences, hate speeches and illegal immigrants, and assess public outreach initiatives such as “Mane Manege Police” and “Aasare”.


Karnataka police chief issues guidelines to check misconduct among police personnel

The circular further directs inspecting officers to review recovery of stolen property, execution of warrants, conviction rates, use of forensic vehicles and mental and physical health initiatives for police personnel.

During the second day of inspection, officers will conduct ceremonial parades, inspect District Armed Reserve (DAR), police quarters and hold district-level crime review meetings. All inspecting officers have been directed to submit detailed reports to the DGP within 10 days of completion of inspection.
