Retired teachers of Government Arts College at Thycaud gather to share memories

On a rainy morning recently, Government Arts College at Thycaud in Thiruvananthapuram once again echoed with voices that had shaped generations of students.

A meet organised by retired teachers of the college turned into a journey of remembrance and a tribute to teaching rather than just a regular reunion.

The programme began on a solemn note with a moment of silence in memory of the teachers who had passed away and whose contributions continue to thrive through their students and colleagues.

“Government Arts College remains one of the finest educational institutions I have taught in, not just for its academics, but also for the human bonds it nurtured,” Hilda Joseph who had initiated the gathering said.

Former faculty members Rajendran Nair and Sukumaran Nair reminisced about their teaching years and memories of students they loved and are still close to. They also spoke about how teaching changed their outlook. K. Murugan, former Principal, recalled the initiatives undertaken during his tenure.

As the interactive sessions continued over lunch, the smiles and laughter on the faces of the retired teachers underscored how meaningful the event was for them.

Other retired teachers, including B. Unnikrishnan, Sudershanan Pillai, Sujaya, and Rajeev helped in organising the gathering.

College Principal B. Ashok and vice-principal Ajith were presented with tokens of appreciation for their role in organising the meet.
